Thoran is an authentic Kerala dry side dish for rice. Thoran is made with most of the vegetables and sometimes with mixed vegetables. Today its Padavalanga thoran . Padavalanga has many health benefits and tender Padavalanga is always tasty when cooked.
Recipe Type –Side Dish – Lunch Cuisine: Kerala Serves- 5
Padavalanga (Snake Gourd) – 1
Onion – 1
Coconut Scraped – 1 cup
Chilly powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Garlic – 3 pods
Mustard seeds -1 tsp
urad dal – 1 tsp
Dry red chilies – 2
Curry leaves – few
Finely chopped (very small cubes)padavalanga and onion .
Heat oil and do the tempering but adding mustard seeds once its splutter add urad dal, Dry red chilies and curry leaves
Add onion and once its truns translucent add the snake gourd and fry till it becomes soft and the moisture is completely absorbed.
Coarsely Grind coconut, chilly powder, turmeric powder, cumin and garlic .
Add this masala to onion , snake gourd fry and mix it well.
Simmer the flame and cover and cook well , in between give it a stir.
