Mambazha Pulissery

This is one of the traditional curry of Kerala using ripe mango. This is usually done  by nattu manga with a unique smell.


Ripe mangoes – 3

Tureric powder – ½ tsp

Green chilly – 2

Water – 2 cups

Curd – 2 cups


Coconut oil

For Grinding

Grated coconut – 1 cup

Cumin seeds – ¼ tsp

Green chillies- 1

Chilli powder – ½ tsp

For Tempering

Mustard seeds -1 tsp

urad dal – 1 tsp

Dry red chilies – 2

Curry leaves – few



Peel the sink of mangoes and cut and gently smash it with hands.

Add turmeric  powder, green chillies, water and salt and cook well.

Grind the coconut with other ingredients to a smooth paste and add it to the cooked mangoes.

Mix the curd in ½ cup of water and it to the curry.

Once it starts to boil switch off the stove.

Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard, urad dal and add red chillies, curry leaves and pour this above the pulissery and close it with a lid for 5 mints.
