Channa dal – 1 cup …
Raw Rice – 1 tsp Red
Green Chillies- 2 (Chopped)
Grated Ginger – 1 tsp
Curry leaves a handful
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Wash and Soak channa dal, rice and red chillies for for atleast 4 hours.
Drain the water from and keep 2 tsp of dal aside. Grind half of the dal along with salt and red chilli.
Now add the remaining dal and grind it to a coarse paste.
The vada flour should be coarse and not smooth.
To the ground vada flour add 2 tsp of dal, chopped green chillies, onion, curry leaves and grated ginger and mix well.
Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
Make small patties out of the vada dough and deep fry it in the oil.
Add the fried vadas to hot rasam.
Soak all the vadas in rasam for atleast 1 hour and serve.
