Ven Pongal

ven pongal WMIngredients

Raw Rice -1 cup
Moong Dal (yellow)- 1 cup

Hing powder – ½ tsp
Cummin Seeds- 2 tsp
rice dal WMBlack pepper- 1 tsp
Ginger  (Crushed) – 1 inch piece
Turmeric powder- ½ tsp

Cashew nuts-10
Ghee- 2 tsp
Curry Leaves- few

Salt

Water

Dry roast rice and dal till it turns hot and then clean with cold water.

Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds and allow it to splutter.

Add crushed ginger, hing, black pepper and curry leaves and fry till the ginger turns golden brown.

Put the rice and four times water and pressure cook for four whistles.ven pongal1 WM

Once the rice is cooked mash well using a masher.

Roast the cashew nuts in ghee till it turns brown and add into the rice.
