Ghee Roast Dosa

Dosa and Idli are very popular South Indian. Dosa thin crepe that is made of fermented rice and lentil batter. Idli and dosas are made regularly in South Indian homes regularly for breakfast and dinner. There are so many varities of dosa.

Dosa / Idli Batter  

Today made ghee roast dosa which is loved mostly by the kids as it’s so crispy and yummy. Kids love to order ghee roast in restaurants. It’s very simple to make at home too.

Recipe Type –Breakfast                           Cuisine: South Indian                            Serves- 8

Ingredients  For Dosa / Idli batter

Par boiled rice – – 1 ½ cup

Regular rice – 1 cup

Whole Urad Dal – 1 cup

Fenugreek seeds – ¼ teaspoon

Water – as needed



Wash and soak rice in a bowl for 5 hours.

Mix urad dal and fenugreek seeds and soak it for 5 hours

Drain water from urad dal and grind it to a smooth paste buy adding water and transfer it to a big container.

Add rice and grin it to a smooth paste and transfer along with the urad paste adding salt.

Mix the urad and rice batter well with hands and keep it in a warm place for 5 to 10 hours depending on the temperature.

But this time the batter will get fermented and raised.

Ingredients For Ghee Roast

Dosa batter – 2 cups



Take the dosa batter and add little water enough to make the batter thin to a pouring consistency.

Heat a non stick tawa and pour a ladle full of batter on the cnter of tawa and spread it evenly in a circular shape.

On medium flame cook the dosa sprinkling ½ to 1 teaspoon of ghee at all the sides and on top of the dosa.

Keep cooking till the base becomes golden and crisp.

Fold it and serve hot.
